Notes From Zone 4

Besides this one, we have several Moveable Type blogs here at the vast Richards site complex. Since things are still coming up, I’ve been using the default template and planning to upgrade ’someday’. Well, ’someday’ came for Notes from Zone 4, and I got very confused when changes to the CSS stylesheet wouldn’t appear on the screen. After the standard RDA of hair tearing, I did a view source and discovered that it was trying to load the stylesheet from ‘/’ rather than ‘/gardenblog’. Why would it do that? Because on the configuration form for a moveable type blog there’s a text box labeled “URL of your site”. Which MT uses as the URL of your blog. Apparently it doesn’t occur to them that there might be other content on your site.
