Evening Walk
Posted: September 29th, 2003 by Lisa
We took a walk this evening, and just loved the way the house and garden looked in the twilight.
The leaves on the trees are turning all over, but we seem seem to be at least a week from peak, which is strange.
I heard on the radio that all this rain should make the colors in the leaves spectacular this year, because the leaves on the trees should be bigger. I really haven’t seen evidence of this yet this year, but the color seems to be delayed. Usually, the first weekend of October is peak for us, but it doesn’t seem to be happening this year.

PHPBB Just works
Posted: September 29th, 2003 by Frank
My son asked for a message board on his band’s site and Lisa, who is something of a connoisseuse of message boards, recommended PHPBB. So I went and got it.
I’m very pleased to report that I followed the instructions and it ‘just worked’. Of course this is on a server with MySQL and PHP already fully debugged and running. The instructions also expect you to get from “uses MySQL” to “better create a database and an admin user before I try to setup PHPBB” on your own. Fortunately, I did, and it worked.
I did not actually customize the forum: Jeremy is a far better designer than I, but so far he’s reported no problems.
