Our project for this spring is to have a properly fenced garden and orchard. We’re also having several acres cleared for pasture, but we’re not doing that ourselves: We’re selling timber to pay for the stumping. The garden is going in where the pigs spent the winter. The orchard will be in the sheep pens

I am so enjoying having these little turkeys around. They have so much personality! This one here sits on my lap, likes to be cuddled, and even cuddles up and naps with the pup. Too cute. The whole flock of them follow me around on the farm any time I’m out there. They also

So here’s my idea. I’ve been experimenting with Compost Tea and have a couple of local gardening centers who will let me brew some in their shops to sell. I was thinking of naming it something like "Minnie’s Magic", and asked Mr. Mighty Mangler to draw me Minnie with all of Minerva McGonagall’s trappings, like the hat and magic wand, stirring a cauldron. What do you think? Does it not work if you don’t know about Minnie or is it cute anyway? What if I did a little small booklet with pictures of Minnie on the display? Brainstorm with me, please! I asked Minnie about it today, and she’s all there for becoming a local celebrity. (Compost Tea really is magical stuff. All organic and plants are amazingly healthy when they get some.)

We’re moving into real spring now, and the to-dos are piling up. The sheep were supposed to be shorn early this morning. When we woke it was cloudy and humid and weather.com said it was snowing here although it wasn’t. At 7 we got a call from Bruce Clement, the shearer, saying it was pouring

There was a message on the Monadnock Beekeepers mailing list on Monday that Black Cat Honey had several extra packages of bees and would anyone want them. I called half an hour later and got the last two. It seems that B. Weaver down in Texas had sent out a truck full of bees and
