Power came back around 5 this evening. Running water is very good. I like indoor plumbing and hot showers. So is magic heat, but we could have that just by lighting the propane stove even without electricity. This is the first extended outage we’ve had since we’ve had the critters. We need a generator. Driving a truck full of 5 gallon buckets down to the fire station is a pain the the neck.
Of course that would also give us internet, and I’m not sure that’s a complete win. There’s a lot to be said for playing games by lantern light, like we did when the kids were small. I wonder if there’s anyone else in Marlow that plays bridge? Maybe the internet cafe model, transplanted to the public library would work. Network (and cable) television is eminently optional, but music and DVDs are wins.
