I’ve wondered for much of my life why I have to be so careful to correctly tie a square knot rather than a granny when it seems that others get them right effortlessly. I have the same trouble with some other kinds of knots ,too. Sometime over the weekend, I had a rush of brains

Because we spent the majority of the weekend doing stuff out in the new garden, not much got done in the flower gardens at all. So we went out after work today, really just to do a walk-through because we thought the bugs would be awful, and ended up staying outside for a couple of

We are spending almost every evening out in the gazebo at this point. When the sun starts to go down, it just calls our name. The screened in part was to keep away the bugs, but the mosquito magnet has been working so well that we can sit out there with the door propped open

Pretty, pretty roses all in bloom in the garden right now. The climbing white rose, Iceberg, that we got from Arena this year, is doing particularly well on the trellis underneath the gazebo. I just love this rose, so classic looking. The weather has been wonderful today, mid-70s, blue skies. The mosquito magnet is working

I just wanted to note that we placed an order for a mosquito magnet today. I’m really looking forward to being able to garden much more with that, without having to arm myself by wearing a bug suit. I’m not sure how it will do with black flies, but I have high hopes.

We poked our noses out to do a few things in the garden today, but the bugs were bad and it was so hot that we came in after about an hour, I think. I noticed that it’s great mindless stuff for me … I wander around, deadhead and weed, poke and prod. I try
