We now have a brand new freezer, full of 300 lbs of pork and 100 of lamb. The smoked stuff is still yet to come. New Hampshire no longer has state slaughterhouse inspection, so we are attempting to figure out how to sell the meat. We probably needed to sell the critters alive, then

I almost afraid to say it, but we sort of kind of maybe made some progress this weekend. The sheep aren’t happy where they are, but they have lots of room out on the hill, three out of four sides are permanent fencing, and the last side is electronet, but because it’s a straight run,

I’m discouraged, lately. I think we both are. The only thing that is really thriving is the bees. (Murphy — back off. We do not need to have something happen to them now, thanks!) Kaytla, the ewe who had triplets, one still born, looks like she is developing mastitis. I noticed that one teat was twice the size of the other, and that both lambs were nursing on the other side. I asked on the ISBONA list to make sure I should intervene, and milked her out by hand

The coop is done. Not perfect, but awfully cute, actually, and it will be fine. Once we could get going on it, I think it took us probably three days to build, all told. It still needs the metal roofing, and I bought some dark stain for the outside, but it can’t be applied until
