I finally got in to see the bees on Saturday. They started the year with so few bees, I didn’t think they’d make it. They did, slowly (painfully slowly) built up their population and the hive is now decent sized, although still not large by any measure.
The good news is that the two hive bodies are simply crammed with honey. There’s no room left anywhere. This bodes very well for their making it through the winter. I gave them a honey super: It’s still high summer with flowers everywhere. The super is undrawn, which won’t help, but I still have hopes for some honey this year.
