Gaela’s Getting Close

Baby belly We are about a week away from our Gaela x Skundi litter. Suddenly she is getting really wide, and finally starting to slow down. Just two days ago, I was remarking that she was still running and swimming with the other girls, not only keeping up but out ahead. (She’s a runner!)

But today, I took them for a romp at the very same park, and she mostly hung back with me and we watched the other girls. She did a bit of walking around and sniffing because dog! but not much. After a bit, I sat on the ground and she stayed with me and got belly rubs instead.

I think we said the first tie was October 12th, and the last tie was the 17th, so 60 days from that puts us about a week or so away. I guess it’s time to haul out the whelping box and get that put together. I’m hoping that since we raised her last litter in that same whelping box, this time I’m hoping she’ll actually whelp there. Last time, she wanted nothing to do with it, and insisted on being in a closet. Having five black puppies in a dark closet in the middle of the night? Not my funnest time, let me just say.

Lovebirds

I can’t wait to meet the puppies! I can’t wait to see what patterns and colors we get! Skundi is a handsome dude and I just love Gaela’s foxy look. They both carry black and white tri, so there’s a good chance we’ll get one or two of those, too.

I bet their coats are going to be gorgeous — both Skundi and Gaela have just the softest fur, silky and lovely, both long coats.
